Daimler Acquires Real-Time Ridesharing Company flinc

Big news from flinc, the European Satellite Navigation Competition (ESNC) Regional Winner 2010: Daimler announced the full acquisition of flinc GmbH. This takes Daimler’s innovative mobility services portfolio to the next level.

After winning the ESNC Hesse Regional Challenge in 2010 and the incubation in the ESA Business Incubation Centre (BIC) Darmstadt, flinc accelerated its development to become a mobility game-changer. flinc has turned into a true pioneer in the field of door-to-door ridesharing for short- and medium-haul routes. To date, about half a million customers are registered on its platform.

Through real-time analysis of traffic movements, flinc is able to assign seats in cars within a few seconds. It combines GPS and location-based capabilities with social networking to offer a dynamic, safe, and automated service that gets users from A to B with maximum usability.
